How did you get started in bass fishing? – I have been fishing, fresh & salt water, since I was four years old. My father and grandfather started me fishing in our farm pond for bream and bass. My passion for fishing has grown exponentially since that time and my dream is to some day be able to fish full time on one of the professional circuits and win a championship on that circuit. How did you get into tournament fishing? – I started tournament fishing in 1993-94 when Dave Smith invited me to join Big Bend Bass club. I fished with that club for five years as a non-boater and finally purchased my first bass boat in 1998 and having been fishing as a boater ever since (except for a little while when I was boatless beach trash after a little run in with Annin shoal on the Flint River). That is a story better left untold. I have expanded my tournament fishing in the past few years to include more tournament trails and look forward to pursuing the dream of fishing full time at a more competitive level. What's your favorite technique? – I would have to say that shallow/ medium running crankbaits are my favorite technique. They are so versatile in that you can cover so much territory and put the bait in front of more fish. Whether you are running them across the top of patches of hydrilla or bouncing them thru timber around the edge of your favorite lake or river, these baits will catch you fish any place or time of year. How about your fishing highlights? What accomplishments are you most proud of? Definitely the highlight of my fishing endeavors would have to be making the Florida Bass Federation state team in 2000, 2002 and 2004. Placing fifth in the FBF Angler of the year (2005) race is also something I am very proud of and I will continue to try for that title in the future.
Who are your sponsors? Anyone else you want to thank? - First, I would like to thank the folks at Tri-State for allowing me the opportunity to become affiliated with Ranger and getting on their team staff. John, Butch, Jerry, Ed, Daniel and Ms. Gail are all so supportive and their help is greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank my loving and supportive wife, Gay, for always helping me thru the tough times and asking how I did after each tournament. Without her I would not be where I am today. I thank Ranger for their support and will always be in debt to them for allowing me the team opportunity. My other sponsors are Ram Construction & Development and CDS Manufacturing. Thank you all for your support.
